thoughts on chap. 1,2,3

Comic books are easy to read, I like comics, and I like how the conversation works that simplify the content and things it needs to say. And when we discuss the chapters in class, I found out that the different ways the pictures are drawn gives different meanings and emphasizes, there are lots of details that are hidden there, and if you are not carefully enough, you will not be able to notice that. And basically the relationships between Artie and Vladek are kind of intense and tough. they don't get along well. they have different ways of looking at things, and I think Vladek is hard to deal with. He has problems with everything and everyone. He doesn't like Mala but married to her, and he force his son to eat everything in the plate, he calls the drugs doctor gave him junk food. It's probably because he has been though the Holocaust, and the suicide of Anja. And threw his son's coat and gave him his old one. I feel he's kins of mean and selfish, self-centered that he doesn't care about other's feelings, and he does not have compassion, sympathy, empathy.

  1. I thought it was interesting that he called his medicine 'junk food,' too. I wonder if he thinks the pills junk because they're so expensive for something so little, or if he just doesn't think they're working for him. Though he's really careful about them and exercising, so maybe he trusts the someone's orders if they're a 'specialist,' but doesn't trust the medicine itself.
